Healthy Ground Turkey Chili Recipe

I love knowing that I can make dinner for the family that is not only Easy... But Healthy too! This homemade chili recipe uses ground turkey as a healthier option and it's definitely Husband & Kid approved here at our house! Try it out this weekend and let me know what you think!



Healthy Ground Turkey Chili


Ingredients

  • 2 - tsp. Olive Oil

  • 1 - Yellow Onion (chopped)

  • 3 - Garlic Cloves (minced)

  • 1 - medium Red Bell Pepper (chopped)

  • 1 - lb. Extra Lean Ground Turkey

  • 4 - TBS. Chili Powder *

  • 2 - tsp. Ground Cumin

  • 1 - tsp. Dried Oregano

  • 1/4 - tsp. Cayenne Pepper (optional)

  • 1/2 - tsp. Salt

  • 1 - 28oz. can Diced (or) Crushed Tomatoes

  • 1-1/4 cups - Chicken Broth

  • 2 - 15oz cans Dark Red Kidney Beans, rinsed & drained

  • 1 - 15oz. can Sweet Corn, rinsed & drained

Optional Garnish Ideas: cheese, avocado, tortilla chips, cilantro, sour cream.



Directions

  1. Place olive oil in a large pot on stovetop over medium-high heat.

  2. Add onion, garlic, and red bell pepper and sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently.

  3. Add in ground turkey and break up the meat; cooking until no longer pink.

  4. Next add in the chili powder, cumin, oregano, cayenne pepper and salt, stir to mix well.

  5. Now add in the tomatoes, chicken broth, kidney beans and corn. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30-45 minutes or until chili thickens and flavors combine.

  6. Serve and Enjoy!


Tips

  • Some brands of Chili Powder are Spicier than others!

This recipe uses McCormick’s Chili Powder, which is very mild.
