The new 2026 Dietary Guidelines and the "Inverted" Food Pyramid are officially here, and as a holistic health coach, I am SO happy!


This isn’t just a small tweak—it is a massive "return to basics" that prioritizes real, nutrient-dense food over industrial processing.


Here is why we’re celebrating today:

  • Protein is Priority: The new pyramid flips the old script! It now urges us to prioritize high-quality protein at every meal, nearly doubling previous recommendations to 1.2–1.6g per kg of body weight.

  • The War on Healthy Fats is Over: We are finally embracing whole-food fats again. The guidelines now favor the benefits of red meat, full-fat dairy, eggs, and even butter or beef tallow as nutrient-dense options.

  • Goodbye Ultra-Processed Junk: For the first time, the guidelines explicitly warn against "highly processed" foods, added sugars, and artificial additives that fuel chronic disease.

  • Gut Health Spotlight: The new guidelines officially endorse fermented foods like sauerkraut and kimchi to support our microbiome—a cornerstone of holistic wellness!

  • Quality over Quantity: We’re moving away from the "refined carb-heavy" base of the past and toward a foundation of whole fruits, vegetables, and fiber-rich grains.


This is a huge win for everyone fighting for a healthier America.
